Tips for Buying and Selling Safely
- Be wary of users who ask for your phone number, email address, or send you a purchase link through the chat or outside of it.
- To carry out a transaction, the buyer or seller will NEVER need your personal or contact information, nor will they ask you to click on a link to finalize the purchase. All necessary data is securely registered on Wallapop.
- Use Wallapop Shipping for deliveries. Shipments via Wallapop Shipping always take place within the app’s chat. For legitimate sales or purchases, a third voice from Wallapop appears in the chat in a blue bubble. This is not a "regular" chat (black letters on a white background).
- The buyer or seller should not send you a link with the offer through WhatsApp or email. Shipments through Wallapop Shipping always stay within the app's chat.
- Wallapop or its services, such as customer support, will never contact you through the Wallapop chat.
- Be cautious of emails claiming to be from Wallapop, especially if they have spelling mistakes, police badges, or mention "wallapay" (walapay, wala pay).
- Wallapop only uses official Wallapop emails. Be cautious of email addresses with other domains (e.g., Gmail, Hotmail).
- Evaluate the buyer's trustworthiness by checking their activity history, ratings, profile verification, and other products.
- Wait for another buyer if the person you’re chatting with doesn’t inspire confidence or their profile seems suspicious. You’ll find another user.
- Wallapop will never ask for your password or send you links to promote your ads for free.
Payment Security
For sellers
- You don’t need to add your bank card details when making a sale. Only provide your bank account information when withdrawing money from your Wallet. These details are not required beforehand or to finalize the sale.
- Do not accept payments via transfers outside Wallapop. Conduct transactions in person or through Wallapop Shipping, as all payments made using Wallapop’s system are protected, allowing us to assist you in case of issues.
- We will never ask for a payment to receive a purchase. Shipping costs are always borne by the buyer.
For buyers
- Make all payments through Wallapop Shipping or in person, as only these transactions are secured by Wallapop, and we can assist if something goes wrong.
- With our shipping system, you can review the product up to 48 hours after receiving it.
- If you make a transaction in person, we recommend using QR scanning to pay by card or using your Wallet balance.
- To buy, select your preferred payment method in the app and follow the instructions. We will never ask for additional information outside the app.
When to Enter Your Card and/or Bank Details for a Purchase or Sale
The Wallapop Wallet is the safest way to manage your transactions. You will only need to enter your banking information during the validation of this section:
Steps:
- Verify your identity via the Wallapop app or website.
- Add your bank account or card under You > Wallet.
- During this process, avoid clicking on external links or leaving the app.
Report Suspicious Behavior
Our priority is to maintain a safe and trustworthy community, and your collaboration is key. If you encounter any suspicious or inappropriate behavior, report it immediately to Wallapop. You can also block the user.
