What is Security Verification (SCA)?
SCA (Strong Customer Authentication) is a mandatory security measure designed to protect your online payments and prevent fraud. Its function is to confirm that it is really you who is carrying out the transaction by requesting two different forms of identification, such as a password and a code sent to your mobile.
This verification is performed by Mangopay, our payment gateway.
After entering the code, you'll need to check all the boxes to complete your registration with Mangopay:
Below we provide solutions for any problems you may encounter when performing the verification:
I don’t use that email address any more
Mangopay uses the email linked to your Wallapop account. If you don’t have access to that email, you can change it in your Wallapop account:
- Go to your Wallapop account settings
- Update your email address
I forgot my PIN code
When you try to verify your identity, you’ll be asked for your PIN. If you don’t remember it:
- Select ‘Forgot PIN code’ on the verification screen
- Follow the steps to reset your code
- Complete verification with the new PIN code
I changed my phone number
If you’ve changed your phone number, it may not match what Mangopay has on record. To update it:
- Start the Mangopay verification flow
- You’ll see your old phone number, and a link for ‘Change number’
- Select ‘Change number’ and enter your new phone number
- Request the SMS code again once your number is updated
I didn’t get the SMS code
If the SMS with your verification code doesn’t arrive:
- Check that the number in the Mangopay process is correct
Make sure your phone has signal and can receive messages - Request the SMS code again
If you still experience problems
If you haven't been able to verify your account, please try the process again. If you're still unable to do so, please, contact Wallapop Support.
